Julia Malinowski serves as the director of strategic initiatives for CornerSquare Community Capital and the Center’s Small Business Credit Initiatives.
She previously worked as the rural economic development program director at Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), a national Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). There she led initiatives in workforce development, entrepreneurship, wealth building, and digital inclusion. Prior to joining LISC, she worked at Self-Help Credit Union as a commercial loan officer.
Julia got her start working in the Arkansas Delta for Southern Bancorp Community Partners, where she helped lead a comprehensive countywide community development initiative, ran the city’s tourism and promotions department, and served on the board of the local Main Street program. It was there that she fell in love with Southern culture and small town life.
Julia grew up outside of Seattle, Washington and studied business at the University of Washington. Outside of the office, she enjoys hiking, listening to Brene Brown’s podcasts on repeat, and sampling the best bubble tea the Triangle has to offer.
